Tarot Talk: VIII Strength

Strength card by Anton Gustilo

Welcome back y’all and happy birthday to all the Leo’s! For their sake let’s talk about the strength card in tarot.

Strength is not about a flamboyant show or certainty at all. Strength, much like the 7 of wands, is telling you all about the things that come before bravado. My favorite thing to leverage is often Lions (representative of leo) are rarely ever roaring in the first place. Strength is about will power and quiet confidence, there is almost a regality to it. The only way to know if you are strong is to hold something heavy, right?

Remember courage isn’t the absence of fear, it is being afraid and doing something about it anyway. In tarot, the strength card usually has to do with the lion and a woman — typically together but usually her hand in it’s mouth. Showcasing vulnerability and courage as a strength to advance while risks being openly present as well. It is a card that asks you, ‘What are you made out of? Afriad of? How can you conduct yourself so you may shine gently and still progress? What matters to you here?”

Where I feel Leo gets tied into this is Leo is ruled by the Sun in astrology anyway (making the sun card synonymous with their energy), The sun whether it is acknowledged or not, rises everyday and brings warmth and illumination to the land. The sun does not have to be blazing to prove it’s existence and it doesn’t become any duller if unacknowledged. The sun is a source of quiet courage, to continue to rise everyday despite what it cannot control outside of itself. This, I feel captures the essence of Strength and Leo; by asking you to be brave enough to show up regardless of the validation of others. Show up even quietly, if it matters to you. What would that look like, how can you find a way to take a gentle and courageous step?

Strength is not about being loud, proud, or overbearing. It is an act of self trust. Being present. Letting your character and actions speak for themself. I feel the Strength card asks us to hone in on self-authority, not in a righteous way, in a self mastery way.

Okay y’all! That’s all I feel called to share and as always I hope this helps!
