The Magic & The Mundane
As people want to explore the more magical aspects in life what we should never forget to consider is the Mundane is the foundational pillar to the magic. Especially in spirituality, the mundane is not meant to be ignored in favor of the mystical. Think of it instead like the permit before the license.
I often have had clients come to me asking if they are cursed or if people are putting work on them due to “bad luck”, which is a story for another time. Today our priority is protection. You are only as strong as your physical. As in, if you let yourself go outdoors while it’s below 32 degrees in only a t-shirt and flip flops it wouldn’t be surprising if you got sick afterwards, despite the fact that you could be vaccinated or previously having great health. We understand that because humans don’t have immunity to anything, there are things that are made to help us on top of what our bodies do naturally to ensure our survival.
Magic works the same way. When it comes to protection your bare minimum is what keeps the physical balanced on earth. Such as regular hygiene, rest, and nourishing food. You wouldn’t believe how many times in session we are trying to get to the bottom of an issue or disarray and spirit points out they aren’t even sleeping well so there is no energy to move things forward — literally.
Next we move onto something our society is still working to understand and normalize; Mental health.
Magic works off of belief systems and universal laws we choose to opt in or out of. Which is why certain superstitions have no effect on communities they aren’t apart of. In order to work with and wield magic, we need to work with and wield our faith. What does this have to do with mental health? Your mental health is directly linked to your magical capacity or potency.
If your physical body’s needs are keeping up with the hardware (making sure your physical phone is not cracked, chipped, charged and in otherwise great condition). Your mental health is the software — It doesn’t matter how great the condition of the phone is externally if the battery can’t stay charged, it can’t run any apps, the screen goes blank, it freezes, or keeps shutting off when you want to use it, and can no longer be updated eventually making it obsolete, right? In this case your anxious/negative thoughts, inability to stay present, limiting beliefs, etc are the bugs that can plague your software. Emotions and mental heath are deeply intertwined and our understanding will change with our capacity which function the same as the system update for bug fixes our phones do ever so often.
If your physical health or mental health is offset it will cause a ripple effect until they are symbiotic once again. Often I see people jump the gun in their assumption that something grander must be at play when they are experiencing this offset. In all if you truly are a believer of practitioner of the mystical it is imperative that we never overlook the mundane. Instead we should check their first knowing that the answers are typically hidden in plain sight waiting for those who are seekers to find them and not those who choose to glorify one side of the coin or search for short-cuts.
