Life’s Journey

This week I’m going to touch on one of the questions I tend to find obnoxious. It’s along the lines of “What’s my purpose/What’s the meaning of life”.

Granted I do think there is a morsel of genuine curiosity there, most of it is superficial though. Asking such a grand question as if it can be answered so simply, especially when any simple answer regardless of how true would feel like an understatement.

Instead let’s talk about life. Some call life a journey or the soul’s path. True enough. In my belief — every soul has chosen to reincarnate for whatever reason. I also don’t believe any soul would choose to be alive again if it thought it would fail or the trip wasn’t worth it.

Putting that aside, let’s say you are blessed enough to have a moment of clarity about your purpose and what to do about it. Think of it as finding your lane and noticing the finish line. There are still hurdles that need to be overcome. I often have spoken with people who feel jaded about the presence of those hurdles and feel like if something is truly apart of their purpose or meant for them it should be free of obstacles.

Candidly I think this is not only a unsupportive and unrealistic way of thinking, but also extremely entitled. No — I don’t believe everything in life has to come with back-breaking and soul-sucking amounts of effort to bare results. The soul has agreed to the challenges and thus the journey just as much as it has agreed to the rewards, understanding that this is a gamble either way. The flat truth is nothing can grow without being challenged and everything in life requires a degree of attention and sacrifice. The “stakes” are imbedded into everything that we do even if they aren’t always dire. To assume you should never be challenged or struggle within your soul’s journey is to set yourself up for failure.

Fate and free will exist in tandem. Free will gives you the permission to quit and decide that you are unwilling to be continously challenged. Though you have to accept that you are also withdrawing from any benefits that comes with the experience. You cannot quit the race and still expect to receive a participation medal. Ultimately you choose what you decide is worth seeing through — that is purely your decision to make for better or for worse. That is apart of finding the subjective meanings of what makes your life your own. I am not chastising anyone for being tired, forlorn, or needing time. The phrase is “The path or least resistance” not no resistance at all.

The role of being challenged is to build a skill and or reinforce a muscle. It is preparation for sustaining the rewards you aspire to have. You may have to struggle to read as your souls prerequiste to being a best selling author. Or you could be a great writer already and your challenge is you have nothing to say. The grass is never greener on anyone else’s side. Sometimes the challenges that are placed in front of us are not to taunt us or exist out of cruelty. They exist to refine and support whatever we are missing so are rewards are long lasting. It would be even more devasating to be free of challenge, get what you want, and have it ripped away from you because you didn’t have to skillset to maintain or multiply what you’ve begged for. Sometimes hurdles are present because their job is to reinforce your confidence that they are not only able to be conquered, but YOU are the one who can conquer them.

That’s all from me this week everyone.
