Emotional Intelligence & Work Ethic

Okay this week I’m taking a bit of a different route, instead take this as a little PSA or reminder. As you can tell we’re talking about work ethic and emotional intelligence which I feel is the road to self mastery. Now that I think about it, this is another one of those things I’m speaking on often in session lol. (8P x Strength x 4S)

First let’s talk about these components separately. Starting with Work Ethic. You have probably heard of the term “hustle/grind” culture — speaking of maximizing your effort for great profit. Especially in a capitalistic society we are taught to find ways to monetize ourselves and our time for the sake of earning money. This is also where the expressions of “Running the Rat Race” come in. In life, you can have nothing without effort of some sort and sometimes tedious or strenuous effort is necessary to get to your goal. Work ethic is about how you choose to show up. Sometimes solid work ethic is 100 baby steps to get to 100% sometimes it’s doing 50 today and 50 tomorrow. Most people assume that quitting when it’s hard is the only sign of weak work ethic, but we will come back to this point.

Where does emotional intelligence come to play? In order to have emotional intelligence you first need emotional awareness of self in order to grant it to others and this dual action creates emotional intelligence to put it crudely. I go into a bit more of the foundational stuff in DM & DF as well as Meditation (and the end of Being Intuitive). The reason why this is important to is this aspect is about having longevity and sustainable success. If there is all work and no play (aka too much masculine energy) then we burn out or in extreme cases this is working yourself into an early grave. Emotional Intelligence is knowing the difference between doing it just because you vs doing it because you should. It’s noticing that your fear is provoking urgency from you and not that things are actually operating on a tight or urgent schedule. It’s knowing that you are only nervous because you are doing something new not because you are doing something wrong. It’s understanding that if a chef is sick and still coming to cook we wouldn’t reward their “grind” we would rather wait it out for the most optimally delicious and hygienic meals. In the same way forging weapons through out the night sounds like dedication to the craft, but extreme heat, sharp blades, and scarce lighting sounds like a ticket to the hospital.

Applying emotional intelligence to your work ethic won’t be as simple as reading this post. It’ll take daily attention as we aren’t working at the same energetic levels, climate, and resources everyday. This combo though will reveal whether something is worth fighting for just as much as it reveals the wisdom in knowing pausing is not the same as quitting, and when is the appropriate time to do either. What these essentially equate to per individual is Self Mastery. Which is why the person who can usually do 10 steps to reach their 100 step goal may opt for 5 when they are low and 20 when they are feeling abundant. Knowing the signs and honoring when you need to adjust your approach is the cornerstone for strong and solid work ethic.

Okay, guys I’m getting off my soapbox now lol. Have a good week! Until next time.
