Being Intuitive

It’s almost surprising that I haven’t spoken on this already since I feel like in my daily or professional life this is something I talk about often lol. Either way, let’s break down Intuition and thus being intuitive!

There are a few points I want to make, roll with me as I piece them together. Sorry in advance since I probably won’t be adding any particular structure to this post. Intuition follows the same veins as Divine Fem energy, tied to feelings, creativity, faith, etc (check out DM & DF if this is losing you). Sometimes I feel people can have a polarizing way of viewing it, thinking that if they aren’t intuitive the other option is to be Logical. When truly it is not one or the other, they are on the same spectrum, like being “left or right brained”. We all have one whole brain, utilizing the side you are less inclined to is the challenge here. I guess the first thing I’m highlighting is my belief that any and everyone can be intuitive, it’s not something you have or you don’t, it’s something you have to put the work in to activate and or strengthen (following the same vein from the Pedestal vs GRIT post).

In the array of gifts we usually hear about (Clair; Voyance, Sentience, Audience, Cognizance, and the less popular Gustance and Alience), there may be a few or one each individual is more attuned to naturally. What I think is important to raise while trying to activate or strengthen this skill is that there shouldn’t be any expectation on how the gift will interact with you. Each individual alive has their own unique story, wouldn’t it be strange if all interacted with our gifts the same exact way? How you receive information in your sense will be tailored to the person you already are. Not to mirror someone on TV or someone you admire, because they aren’t you (more on individual experience in signs & symbols).

Going back to what I mentioned earlier, we shouldn’t expect our intuition to make any logical sense. I know that sounds pretty obvious, though I have witnessed and reminded myself of this time and time again. In the same way the emotions will not follow any logical formatting and creativity is born from chaos, intuition is not a fact based practice. To be able to sense something or receive information without immediate proof goes against the logistics our societies tend to solely place value in. Immediately looking for your reality to confirm your intuitive nudges is COUNTER-intuitive. Ruling your intuition out because it “doesn’t seem likely” is one of the first ways to weaken it. Remember, animals don’t wait to consult facts, logistics, or theory in the wild. Instinct and intuition are one and the same; No matter how sophisticated we get, humans are still animals.

You cannot be dysregulated emotionally and have reliable intuition. To make things simple, if you would repress or bypass your own emotions — which are defense mechanism geared to help you navigate the world on a subjective scale, you would not only over-intellectualize your intuition, you wouldn’t trust any of the nudges you would get simply because you are struggling to find and or validate subjective truth in your own experience. If you will dismiss your emotions you will dismiss your intuition. If you will judge your emotions instead of feel them and let them pass, you will struggle to decipher and utilize your intuition.

Intuition is momentary, you will miss it if you struggle to be present. In the same way that I mentioned instinct, there is no perfect plan when being instinctual. When people have a “gut reaction” or get a “bad feeling” they key thing that they are experiencing is being able to acknowledge their intuition has picked up information based off what or where they currently are. For example, smelling something to decide if it’s edible instead of just trusting that it is or should be is a mundane and overlooked moment of guidance found by being in the moment. If you were too busy in your head or paying attention to anything else you would’ve (probably on autopilot) ingested your stomach bug. Intrinsically humans have a sense for danger, if we are present enough something will reveal whether we can survive or whether we should flee, that prerequisite is attention. Intuition isn’t always linear either, it will leave easter eggs, but if you are dismissive or absent minded you will miss the nudge. Even if the intuitive hint you get isn’t applicable within the day you receive it, being present will show you when and where your piece fits into the puzzle.

In all, being intuitive is not something you acquire or collect like hashtags or certifications. It is a practice to be developed first with yourself on a minimal scale and as a byproduct, accessing the grander and mystifying things. Intuition is tied to your personal journey, belief system, and your sense of trust/faith. There is no one perfect way to be intuitive as long as there is a regimen of some sort (discussed a bit further here). There is no iron-clad way to be intuitive but the easiest way to weaken this muscle is to solely value logic/fact, be out of touch with your body and emotions, live in the past/future and never in the present, and to expect and idealism how your gifts interact with you in favor of something more performative or based off someone else’s experiences. That’s all I have for y’all this week! As always questions, comments, etc are welcome in Thee Gathering!
