Astrolo-Tea: Real or Fake?
Make it stand out
Whatever it is, the way you tell your story online can make all the difference.
I’m going to try to keep this as brief and informative as possible. Starting with what is “fake” and what is real when it comes to astrology.
Most of the time people who "‘don’t believe in’ or like astrology and people who blame their faults and personality to the day they were born are two sides of the same coin. They are ignorant not in a demeaning and bigoted way, literally just lacking a foundational understanding. Limiting who you are, what you can or can’t do, and who to your sun sign (the zodiac sign you fall under due to your date of birth) is silly, in the same way that you wouldn’t rep your shoe size as a 3 year old your whole life either. Like most things pop-culture can get people interested while simultaneously promoting a diluted skewed version of the truth.
What everyone should be aware of is Astrology is a science, first and foremost. In the same way that astronomy is a science, meaning this isn’t something to subjectively choose to believe in or not because belief doesn’t matter here. Would you go to a chemist and say you don’t believe in atoms? What you are saying is that you do not understand — which is completely okay as it is a complex system. You are not just your sun sign which is why it’s ridiculous to base your whole life off of the day you were born.
The planets have their own pull over our own lives, in the same way that the ocean responds to the moon and seemingly controls the tides. Did you know that the Moon in astrology can indicate how you express and process your emotions? Which is why you can be a Cancer [a sign known to be emotional] and not be outwardly expressive, your moon sign can be in Aquarius for example which would make you intellectualize and categorize your emotions as “matter-of-fact” instead of actually feeling them for example. Every planet has rules over an aspect of who we are and how we interpret the world around us and of course everyone can’t be grouped into something so cookie cutter as just 12 zodiac signs, right?
That’s why every individual has a natal chart. Which is a literal snapshot of where every star and planet were in the sky when you were born. Being that planets move all the time and different regions can have different perceptions on time (East Asia being 12-14hrs ahead of NYC for example or how on the other side of the earth it can be a different season than the one you’re in currently), that is why your natal chart is will ask when and where you where born. We learned in primary school each planet doesn’t orbit the sun in the same way Earth does. Mercury moves quicker than earth which is why we constantly hear it going in retrograde while Saturn take around 27-30 years to complete a resolution which is why in astrology it is looked more as a generational planet.
As we know the 12 signs were based on 12 constellations. We look at an individuals natal chart more like a pie chart. Each sign holding about 30 degrees within the chart. Within astrology there are Houses which you can think of the setting of a play while the planets are actors and the signs are the tone in which they animate. To synthesis this briefly the 4th House can tell you about your private or home life if not early childhood so that is the setting of this play. Let’s say your Moon is in this house so the actor that is welcomed on stage is feelings. If the moon is in Aries [a warrior but short-tempered]; How Feelings will express themselves is straight forward, maybe a bit rash, but always in defensive of it’s identity. While if it was in Libra (a diplomatic, non-confrontational, aesthetically inclined sign) it may be more concerned on whether what it’s experiencing is “fair” and try to find more round-about ways to respond which gives a more passive-aggressive edge to what is being processed in the privacy of their inner world (the Fourth House).
Okay so why does your birth time matter? The timing of when you where born delegates the tone [i.e the sign] of each House in the natal chart. Your planets and signs will already be paired regardless of whether you knew the time or not. Where they get their time to shine in the play that is your life will be harder to discern. Essentially it would be like knowing who they play but are unaware of when their que is, knowing your birth time allows you to know which actor goes on stage first!
Astrology is a tool of navigation and understanding of the self. Even if you had a 4H Libra Moon that wouldn’t mean you’re doomed to be indecisive and passive-aggressive for the rest of your life. It shows you where you can be uncomfortable and in the circumstances that you may see these things manifest so you can get ahead of an issue before it becomes a problem. If you knew you where athletically inclined in a family full of scholars — it would be easy to see how things that require your body put you at an advantage while also understanding you may have to study a bit harder than your family members. It is still your choice to put your energy into either choice now that you know your “stats”. Astrology works the same way, it reveals your cosmic stats so you can understand your “player” and try to use the information to win in whatever way is ideal for you at this game of life.
In sum astrology is not a belief system, it’s a rather real ancient science that has been hit by pop-culture. It is a tool that can reveal your own inner makeup and should be encouraged to utilize it to create the life you want to live. You are not doomed or limited by the stars just by knowing where they fall in your life. Using it to avoid accountability, putting in effort, writting people or yourself off, and living passively is also a choice but it does not make astrology fake. It makes people ignorant and their character cheap. I tried not to make this too long so I hope this straightened some things out!
