5 Beginner Friendly Oracle Decks
Welcome back y’all! Not too long ago I did (in my opinion) 5 beginner friendly tarot decks. This week I’ll drop what I feel are my 5 beginner friendly oracle decks. Of course in no particular order.
The Spirit Animal Oracle by Colette Baron-Reid ($22-35 USD )
I love this deck! It is kinda chunky and big in it’s original size so for the smaller handed people this deck also comes in a pocket sized tin! This deck is gentle and I love that in the guidebook there isn’t a “Reverse/Negative” perspective instead it’s a “Protection/Prosperity/Essential/Relationship” category for every card. Though this deck is dense, I feel like they give such encouraging messages and the different sections I feel would is helpful for knowing how to interpret answers for different kinds of questions. I also feel like the kind of advice they give not only is insightful but considerate of your experience. Personally, I would go as far to say if you are someone who tends to be very hard on yourself, this is a deck you should have.
The Sacred Creator Oracle by Chris Anne ($25 )
What another fun deck! This deck is easy to shuffle and well loved in my collection. It also has a straightforward message as well as a “protection” message instead of negativity. I love the watercolor vibe and how simple and abstract the imagery on each card is. I feel like you can pull from a lot of this in regard to this deck Color and Numerology being one of them. This deck comes with some pretty fun and easy spreads, one of them I’ve even used to read for others when I first started doing it professionally. I’ve noticed in my personal practice that Creatives and or just passionate people tend to gravitate to this deck so I would recommend it to those who fit the bill. Because this colorful and bright deck is pretty simple I feel the messages are typically easy to grasp in tandem to your intuition. A perfect starter for sure.
The Wild Unknown Animal Spirit oracle by Kim Krans ($27)
This deck also comes in a pocket sized version, but the original is great for all sized hands. Nice card stock and easy to shuffle! I actually really adore this series/author but out of all her decks this is the [only] beginner friendly in my opinion. What I love about this deck is that it is so easy to get practical advice. She also provides really fun spreads in this deck as well. The deck is split between the elements and is not only interesting visually, she makes the effort to include duality in the interpretations. This deck is definitely more persona focused in how I like to use it (checking the energy of something or what energy you need to assume/release etc). It not only grants perspective, but it shows you when in your power what you can expect, when you’re falling off your horse what that can look like, and lastly what you can do [practically! everyday things] to get yourself back into balance. I think this deck is a diverse wild card to any reading or reader.
The Moonology Deck by Yasmin Boland ($18-23)
Of course if you like astrology, I think you should definitely get this deck. Easy to shuffle but might feel a bit big to those with smaller hands. What’s nice is this deck also teaches you a lot about working with the moon cycles which can be helpful to anyone’s spiritual practice regardless of divination. This deck also will teach you a bit more about the energy/archetypes of the zodiacs and thus show you ways to embody them to receive what’s necessary to achieve your desired outcomes. This deck doesn’t have a very flowery way of speaking which I think is helpful for most tense questions and does have a few interesting spreads of their own within the guidebook. This deck also offers some prompts in case there is need for reflection (very much expected out a moon themed deck). If you’re interested in working on yourself and achieving goals I think this is great to have just be mindful of impatience, though the moon moves quickly through cycles it doesn’t rush.
The Prism Oracle Deck by Nicole Pivirotto ($18 USD)
This deck not only helps you understand more about energy through the lens of color, it also has pretty simple imagery on the cards allowing you to pull from your intuition as well as open up your perspective. The card stock is strong and glossy which makes for an easy shuffle and in my opinion small and big hand friendly. If you are a visual person, tend to see the world through color, feeling, or creativity I think you’ll be highly receptive to the way this deck works. The guidebook has a small break down of each color (by section) and a bit about the card in particular. I find it pretty easy to pull some nuance to situations based on what the cards reveal as well as not being overwhelmed by details or the visuals. I also personally love the way somethings are portrayed, for example the Anxiety card is yellow with noodles splayed all over the place. I couldn’t tell you why but I feel like that is a perfect depiction of the queasiness anxiety can give you! This deck has a way of being lighthearted and insightful which I think beginners may need to be able to focus on understanding instead of quizzing themselves with how strong or clear they feel their ability to intuit or discern may be.
